But I recommend that before you start doing any eye exercises, it is important to know why you are doing them and how they actually work to help you improve your vision. Firstly…

Do eye exercises really work?

One of the first things people ask when they hear about eye exercises to improve vision is whether they really work or not to give you better eyesight. The truth is yes, they do work, and they work quite well actually. There are numerous case studies of a wide range of professional and amateur athletes that not only got rid of their glasses/contacts, but experienced noticeable improvements in their performance. Also, many soliders in the armed forces use eye exercises also to ensure their vision remains as healthy as can be. When given that answer, people then usually ask, “Well if eye exercises work so well to improve vision, then why isn’t everyone doing them?” People are skeptical by nature, and that is understandable, but there is a reason that you don’t hear much about natural vision improvement, and I’m going to share that with you today on this page.

Think about this. The eye care industry is a multi-billion dollar industry world wide. Every year, eye doctors, glasses and contact lens manufacturers, laser eye surgeons, etc. make literally billions of dollars in profit. However, that industry would not make any money if everyone was performing some sort of vision improvement routine and had healthy vision. Therefore, the eye care industry is doing everything they can to make sure that people either don’t find out about natural eye exercises to improve vision, or make people believe that natural vision improvement just doesn’t work. It makes total sense. If everybody started doing eye exercises to improve vision, then nobody would purchase glasses, contacts, contact lens solution, laser eye surgery, etc., and the eye care industry would not make their billions of dollars. Plain and simple (and totally unfair).

The government has a tendency to suppress information like that to keep them from losing any profit. However, it is unfair for them to keep such useful and beneficial information from people like you and me. That is one of the main reasons I created this website. I think everybody needs to know about eye exercises to improve vision so they can have healthier eyesight and not have to worry about buying glasses and contacts for the rest of their lives.

So how do eye exercises work?

One of the main reasons people don’t do eye exercises is because they don’t understand how they work to improve your vision. Your eyes are muscles just like any other muscle in your body. Therefore, they need adequate exercise. By performing eye exercises to improve vision, you can keep your eyes in good healthy shape and functioning properly. For example, just as a weight lifter needs to lift weights every day to make his arm muscles stronger, a person who wishes to improve their eye muscles must also perform eye exercises on a routine basis.

Have you ever woken up in the morning to a sore and stiff neck? It was most likely due to the fact that you slept with your head in only one position throughout the night and barely moved it. Well your eyes are the same way. If you leave your eyes in the same position for an extended period of time, they will become stiff, sore, and weak as well. For example, if you do a lot of close-up work where you are focusing your eyes close up for an extended period of time, i.e. doing computer work, your eyes will become so adjusted to the close up work that they will become stiff and “forget” how to focus on things far away. However, by doing exercises to improve vision, you can keep your eye muscles loose, fresh, and ready to focus.

So why not just wear glasses or contacts or get laser eye surgery?

That’s a great question that most people don’t know the answer to. First of all, glasses and contacts cost a ton of money throughout one's lifetime. If you have glasses now, and are not doing anything to solve your blurry vision problem, you are going to be spending tens of thousands of dollars throughout your lifetime on new glasses, new frames, new lenses, new contacts, new contact lens solution, etc. However, rather than spending tens of thousands of dollars, you should try out eye exercises to improve vision, as they are a more healthy and natural way of obtaining clear eyesight.

As for laser eye surgery, not only does it cost thousands of dollars, it is quite risky! There is no guarantee that your vision will be corrected 100%, if at all. Also, there are a lot of side effects, including halos of light in your vision, blind spots, reduced night vision, and even blindness. Therefore, I’d say don't even think about laser eye surgery.

Think about it this way. If you wear glasses or contacts or even get laser eye surgery to make you see clearly, you are only masking the problem; you are not solving the problem of your blurry vision at the root. Glasses and contacts are like crutches for the eye, and you will still have the same visual habits that gave you the poor vision in the first place, which will make your eyes continue to get worse. However, if you learn eye exercises to improve vision, you will regain natural, healthy eyesight the way that a person should see.

Should I consult a real eye doctor about eye exercises to improve vision?

Well, as with any new workout routine or health related questions or concerns, it is always recommended that you consult your doctor, but really, the answer to that one is totally up to you. No one has ever died or been seriously injured doing eye exercises to improve vision. But as always, use your discretion.

There are doctors out there who specialize in natural vision improvement. They are called behavioral opthamologists. I’ve known some people who have gone to a few of those doctors, and what they told me was basically information that I already knew. Please note, though, that you will be spending hundreds, if not thousands of dollars since these sort of “unnecessary” doctor’s visits are not normally covered under most health insurance plans.

Ok, now for the eye exercises. Here are a few simple eye exercises to improve vision and make you see more clearly.

1) Splashing

One of the first things you can do right after you wake up in the morning and right before you go to bed at night is splash your eyes with lukewarm, room-temperature water. This will help clear the eyes out of any debris or foreign matter that is making your vision blurry.

2) Palming

A very popular eye exercise is called palming. It is basically a relaxation technique for your eyes. So whenever your eyes are feeling tired, do this. Take both of your hands, cup them, and place them over both of your eyes so that no light shines through. Then just relax and try to see only blackness and nothing else. This will help more or less “reset” your vision when it starts to become blurry or tired throughout the day.

3) Break-taking

Another one of the many eye exercises to improve vision is called break-taking. It is super simple and very effective. Every ten minutes throughout close up work, i.e. from working on your computer, take a short ten second break, and look at something 10 feet away. This will give your eyes a break from close up work and keep them “remembering” how to focus on things far away. If you don’t use it, you lose it!

4) Eye Squeeze

If your eyes are ever feeling tired and particularly dry, you can do the eye squeeze technique. Close both eyes and squeeze them shut for 5 seconds. Repeat this 5 times, and your eyes should have started to produce some more tears to moisturize your eyes.

 5) Eye Circles

If your eyes ever feel stiff and rigid, you can do eye circles to fix that. Look up, and slowly rotate your eyes in a circle in a clockwise direction. Do this for 7 cycles. Then repeat once again for the counter-clockwise direction. This should loosen up your tight extra-ocular(those surrounding the eye) eye muscles.

 6) Eye Massage

Massage the outside ridge of your eye sockets using your fingers or knuckles. You can also massage your temples. This massaging will help increase the bloodflow surrounding your eyes, resulting in more oxygen being carried to your eyes, in turn giving you clearer vision. They even sell little eye massagers on eBay if you want to check them out.

 7) Nutrition

Eye exercises to improve vision are not the only thing you need to do when trying to obtain clearer eyesight. You also need to have the right nutrients to support healthy eye function. For example, just as a bodybuilder needs a lot of protein to build muscle, those wishing to achieve clearer vision also need certain vitamins, nutrients, and minerals, such as lutein, beta-carotene, bilberry extract, and vitamins A, B, C, and D.

Conclusion

Keep in mind that the above eye exercises to improve vision are not the end-all & be-all of vision improvement. These are actually just the tip of the iceberg.
